Leonardo da Vinci, a defining figure of the High Renaissance, is celebrated as one of the greatest painters ever, renowned for masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Beyond his artistic achievements, Leonardo was a true polymath, with contributions spanning from anatomy to engineering. His detailed notebooks, filled with scientific diagrams, mechanical sketches, and artistic studies, showcase his unquenchable curiosity and inventive prowess.

Born in Vinci, Italy, Leonardo’s talents flourished under the mentorship of Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence. His career took him to Milan, serving Ludovico il Moro, and later to Rome, Bologna, and Venice, concluding in France, where he spent his final years and passed away in 1519.

Leonardo’s legacy is marked by his diverse talents, often epitomised as the “Renaissance Man.” His innovative designs, including conceptualizations of flying machines and armored vehicles, were ahead of their time. Although many of his inventions were not realised during his lifetime, his forward-thinking approach left an indelible mark on various fields, contributing profoundly to the worlds of art, science, and technology.
